The exhibition organized by the Museum is the first one devoted to the painter and it will include approximately fifty of his works from private collections and European and American museums. The works are small-format water colours and oil paintings which mainly represent scenes of the genre where the subjects are literary, historical and of local customs and manners. Viewing the work of Zamacois with a choice of paintings of his master, Ernest Meissonier (Lyon, 1815 - Paris, 1891), and his colleague, Mariano Fortuny (Reus, 1838 - Rome, 1874) will help us to situate his career in a context and better understand Zamacois’ artistic value.
