At a ceremony held on Thursday 9 July, the Iberdrola Foundation research grants and aid allowances for the 2015-2016 academic year were presented to award winners. Held at Madrid's Casa de América, the event was presided by the King and Queen of Spain, who were accompanied for the occasion by Agriculture, Food & Environment Minister Isabel García Tejerina, Iberdrola chairman Ignacio Sánchez Galán, Iberdrola Foundation chairman Manuel Marín and Casa de América managing director Óscar Dávila. Also at the ceremony was Bilbao Fine Arts Museum director Javier Viar.

In the present edition of the awards, the grants and aid allowances were awarded to 109 young people from 5 countries, most for them to train or carry out research into art restoration at Madrid's Prado Museum and at the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum. A number of awards were for Masters and research studies into energy and the environment.

In that time, the corporation has contributed to the Museum's activity in several ways, including training, scientific research, outreach and awareness initiatives, the promotion of exhibitions and education for special needs groups, all as part of its ongoing commitment to culture and the arts.
