From the Toulouse-Lautrec museum in Albi (France), A la toilette is one of the French painterís emblematic works. It is painted in warm shades and depicts a woman caught in the intimate world of her boudoir. The model was a renowned prostitute who went by the name of ìMadame Poupouleî, and who the artist painted at a later date, in 1899 and 1900. On this occasion, the melancholic atmosphere of the painting goes with the characteristic introspective sensitivity of Toulouse-Lautrec´s final works.
