Founding Patrons

Patron of Honour

bbk

Starting in 2001, BBK has maintained the largest sponsorship programme at the Museum of any private organization. The Foundation’s cooperation facilitates a major programme of temporary exhibitions and a range of complementary activities, including didactic itineraries, the BBK-Museum research grant programme, and seasons of talks and lectures jointly organized with the Friends of the Prado Museum Foundation.

Patrons

Logo of Metro Bilbao
Since 2011 and following ten years of sponsoring the Museum’s film cycles, METRO BILBAO has sponsored the Boletín, the Museum’s important scholarly publication.
Logo of DEIA
Represented on the Museum Board of Patrons since 2001, local newspaper EL CORREO extensively promotes and publicises Museum programmes and activities.
Logo of Fundación BBVA
The collaboration between Fundación BBVA and the museum began in 2002. Fundación BBVA’s commitment to the museum, of which it is a member of its Board of Patrons, reflects its strategy of supporting culture with the aim of contributing to the creation and promotion of the art of our own time. The collaborative agreement between the two institutions was renewed in 2017 with the shared objective of launching a new Video Art and Digital Creation Programme.
Logo of Iberdrola
In 2001 IBERDROLA became a member of the Museum Board of Patrons. After an early phase that involved sponsoring the production of the catalogue raisonné of the works in the collection, it now contributes to educational programmes for special-needs publics, particularly the visually or mentally disabled and people in social insertion programmes. The group also contributes to the conservation and restoration programme.
Logo of EITB
Since 2001 and through its radio and tv channels, the EITB communications group has helped to promote and disseminate the Museum’s image and its activities.
Logo of El Correo
Represented on the Board of Patrons since 2001, EL CORREO makes a significant contribution through its pages to the dissemination and promotion of the Museum’s programmes and activities.
Logo of Fundación Banco Santander
Since 2004 Fundación Banco Santander has been sponsoring the Invited Work programme, a pioneering initiative at the time it was launched which aims to emphasise the unique values of every work of art while offering visitors a more profound analysis than that habitually found in exhibitions. In May 2017 Fundación Banco Santander strengthened its commitment to the museum by joining its Board of Patrons.
Logo of Fundación Gondra Barandiarán
Since 2014 the Fundación and the museum have been working together with the shared aim of promoting training and of introducing young people into the world of work through the Gondra-Barandiarán-Museum Grants. Having joined the museum's Board of Patrons in 2017, the Fundación continues to fund the grant programme and is now also supporting the first edition of a Summer Course that will analyse the current state of museography.
Logo of Petronor
Petronor has been a member of the museum’s Board of Patrons since 2017, joining the other institutions and entities committed and able to develop and promote activities of interest to the museum, which in the case of Petronor will be specifically associated with special exhibition projects.
